In a recent long post on X, musician Grimes—real name Claire Boucher—spoke candidly about her health, including several neurodevelopmental diagnoses.
On March 22, 2025, she said on the platform, “I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD this year, and I’ve since discovered that I’m probably dyslexic, which is why I can’t spell at all without spellcheck [sic].”
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) defines Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity illness (ADHD), one of the diseases Grimes listed, as a developmental illness characterized by recurrent patterns of impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattention.

While occasional restlessness or distraction is normal, people with ADHD exhibit these behaviors more frequently and in a variety of contexts, including the workplace, school, and home, which makes day-to-day functioning more difficult.
If she had received a diagnosis sooner, the “Nightmusic” singer thought, many of her challenges and passionate interests may have been written off as “pathological.” She thinks she probably would have taken medication and been less driven to overcome obstacles. She is happy that she persevered on her own in retrospect.
Grimes blasted a subculture of social media accounts related to mental health in addition to her own disclosures. She cautioned that although some offer beneficial guidance, others propagate false information and behave as “extreme infohazards.”

Grimes said that reading was one of the finest ways to increase focus and self-learning, and that it helped her manage the symptoms of ADHD.
She condemned several social media accounts that specialize on ADHD for negatively portraying healthy behaviors like reading. “I think the nature of this uninformed social media mental health subculture is rly a big concern [sic],” she stated.
“Some are great of course, but a lot of these seem like explicitly anti civilizational and geared towards making people worse [sic],” Grimes added as she wrapped up her article.
A month after she publicly pushed Elon Musk to act during their son’s medical emergency, the artist has been more forthcoming about her health.
Grimes claimed in now-deleted tweets on X on February 20 that her ex-boyfriend, who is also the father of her three children, had ignored her calls because of a “medical crisis.”

“I am sorry to do this publicly, but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation,” the “Genesis” singer apparently wrote. This needs to be addressed right away. Please assign or recruit someone who can speak with me if you don’t want to, so that we can continue working to find a solution. Elon, this is urgent.
“I’m not giving any details, but he has missed every meeting and won’t respond to texts, calls, or emails. If he doesn’t respond as soon as possible, our child will suffer lifelong impairment,” she added. “I need him to [expletive] respond, and if I have to apply public pressure, then I guess that’s where we are at,” she said. [sic]”

However, Grimes did not identify which of her kids needed help. She and Elon have a daughter, Exa Dark Siderael, age three, and two sons, X Æ A-Xii, age four, and Techno Mechanicus, age two.
The plea was later removed, but the 53-year-old CEO of SpaceX did not reply. Grimes has since published a number of posts on X. When they couldn’t view her earlier posts, several X users were perplexed and thought her account had been shadowbanned.
Others were perplexed as to why she didn’t leave any remarks on the Musk-owned platform. Grimes clarified the next day that she was removing her posts “because if they’re being shadow banned and not eliciting a response then all it is is a media circus at the expense of the kids.”
The performer and businessman, who dated from 2018 to 2022, had previously had disagreements. In order to explain the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk took X Æ A-Xii to the Oval Office on February 11 for a media briefing with President Donald Trump.
Musk accessorized his dark ensemble with a matching “Make America Great Again” cap and wore a long black coat for the press briefing. X Æ A-Xii stood boldly next to his father, wearing a gold chain and a beige overcoat with a navy blue outfit underneath.
Musk and Trump, who was sitting at the Resolute Desk in a dark suit and blue tie, seemed to be amused by the small youngster. Musk’s son’s attendance at the event prompted an X user to write, “Lil X was extremely courteous today! You did a good job raising him. “Please [sic] pardon me, I need to urinate,” he said to DJT, and it was adorable.”
After seeing the post, the boy’s mother disclosed that she had no idea her ex would be going public with their child. In response, she wrote a message about it on X that is now extensively discussed.
“He shouldn’t be in public like this,” Grimes stated. I appreciate you [sic] letting me know because I did not see this. But at least he was courteous. “Sigh.” Social media users swiftly offered their opinions after seeing her tweet.
“No, he shouldn’t be,” one fan wrote. Girl, you have to get tough. “He’s your baby, not Elon’s pet,” one person said, while another said, “I wish he was with you and his siblings every time I see him.” He is a wonderful person. However, I’m concerned about his safety and influence.
“Is there anything you can do?” said another. His use of X in that manner is really unsettling. It’s not ideal for the child to be in the midst of all this chaos, and Trump appears to be growing irritated as well.
Another netizen said, “She’s right!” and more others joined Grimes’ cause. Someone reaffirmed, “She’s absolutely right, he’s a child, not a prop!!” on Facebook. One commenter expressed similar feelings, saying, “I’m actually with her on this one lol.”

One admirer praised Grimes’ efforts to safeguard her child’s privacy, saying, “Yes mommy, take control of your baby!” Simultaneously, a social media user posted, “Was expecting something like this!” without surprise. Another said,
“She’s protecting her child,” in support of the artist. It is not necessary to include the child in the show that is taking place.
Since their breakup, Grimes has sought to separate herself from Musk. In 2020, she and the Tesla CEO welcomed X, and Musk posted a picture of himself holding the baby in a hospital blanket.
